Ok, so confirm:
DJI V2 goggles connected via USB-C to a smartphone running the DJI Fly app while the signal is coming from the DJI drone = ability to see video.
Ok, so confirmed, misinformation. You can connect your goggles to the DJI Fly app over USB-C, but you need the DJI drone connected to get video. If you're a mainstream FPV pilot who bought the goggles based on the misinformation that you could get video out over USB-C, you've been had.
Video-out has been brought up many many times in many forum posts, with responses from DJI to the tune of "thanks for the input, that's a GREAT idea, we'll take that into consideration..."
Do some digging...the V2 goggles (and V1 for that matter) have the capability of transmitting video over USB-C to an Android or Apple device. The hardware is there. The communication protocol from the goggles to a smart device has been developed. The apps are there - it's on full display now IF you have the DJI drone.
This really galvanizes the impression of a $$$ hungry monopoly whose ultimate response is "we are well aware of the fact that many you want that feature, and you bought SOME of our stuff, but you have not bought ENOUGH of our stuff...buy the $749 smart controller or the $1299 FPV drone if you want a video output. There is no competition, we know you have nowhere else to go, take it or leave it."
DJI: We're using your products. We're using your goggles. We're using your air units. It's not like we're buying knock-off DJI goggles and air units from aliexpress and cashing in on your hard work. You are aware it's a highly desired feature, you have proven you can do it, and you are actively restricting the functionality to those that have crossed your spending threshold. Well played from a business standpoint, only in a monopoly could you pull off such a bold move!
