Located on Mission Bay, some of the best property San Diego has to offer. This piece of land was leased by the City in the 1950's to allow visitor travel trailers. Within the next 20 years, somehow people installed more permanent housing. When the city went to take it back in the 70's, they stipulated that residents could continue to live there for 50 years, 2003. It took another decade of court battles before the city finally won. Now it's a graveyard of trailers while we wait for the planners to decide what it's to become next.
Great footage. I remember something about plans to make that marshlands. I got a feeling those old trailers are going to be full of asbestos and lead. If so, will be a nightmare and huge expense for abatement.

Yes, yes, and yes. They are debating how/where to extend the marshland in that area. They in fact found asbestos in the trailers and between that and the pandemic, I guess the final cleanup has been delayed. Good for me though because I got to capture it! Thanks for viewing.
