Hi, finally got around to making myself and my drone legal. Got my operator ID and  did the flyer ID at same time as was free. Where on the mini 2 are you guys putting you operator IDs? I was going to put it inside the battery cover but if you follow the guidelenes for text size etc it doens't fit unless you cut it to fit over two lines instead of one.

Just curious what peoples thoughts are on having it on dsiplay on the outside of your drone as well?

I just printed a label and stuck it on top.. and at the same time stuck my mobile number on another lable as I have with all my planes/quads.

I did this after adding an FPV and Gyro to a plane and taking it out for its longest ever flight.. But got so excited I forgot to monitor the battery.. I turned and never saw it again

To this day I wonder that if I had my phone number on it, someone might have found it and called me.

Viewed from the rear, sticky label on rear right leg facing the viewer and also labelled the batteries with the same label. I think I will put my mobile no. on the rear left leg as well.

I used 4mm text and fixed to the back of the front arm, it’s discrete and doesn’t spoil the look of the drone

Last I checked an operator ID wasn't required for the mini 2, which is the forum you're posting in.

According to the CAA website it does as it has a camera. Doesn't require a flyer ID though.

OP is in UK, hence Europe, you are in Canada - how do you know better than us local regulations and why you think so?

Hello there stupat78. Good day and thank you for the inquiry on where to place the operator identification on your DJI Drone. I hope that our fellow DJI co pilots can give out there recommendation where they place the said operator identification on there DJI Drone. Thank you and fly safe always.

On the inside.  When you open the flap and look in the text is readable.

sorry but last time i checked UK is on an island that is still considered part of the European continent, no? and believe me i know and i am glad UK is no longer part of EU. Good riddance to that. Nobody needs bunch of whining babies that cannot decide which way the wind blows.

Brothers label maker with clear tape and white lettering looks closer to the DJI white emblems.  But I switched to black lettering to make it less obvious.

The clear tape is by far the cleanest choice and not very visible.  I initially started with individual small precut white letters.  But even the smallest size letters was way too big and looked janky.

Mine is labelled on top between the front legs, this is not going to interfere with anything. I also put Name & tel. No. in the hope someone will call if I lose it.

Thought rules changed in Dec 20? If you're drone has a camera then you have to have both ID'S
From UK caa:
You must register before flying most drones or model aircraft outdoors in the UK.

There are two requirements and you may need to meet both:

if you’ll fly, you must pass a theory test to get a flyer ID
if you’re responsible for a drone or model aircraft, you must register for an operator ID

One free pay for the other?

The rules did change but a mini 2 does not require a flyer ID as it is under 250g. I have done my flyer ID anyway as it was free.

It only requires an operator ID even though it's under 250g as it has a camera and is not a toy.

Again, you are correct stupat 78. Operator id must be on the drone, at least 3mm high symbols and readable without having to disassemble the drone to read the information.
Flyer id not required on the drone, YET. But the person flying the drone must be registered at the time.

Does the person flying the drone have to be registered though if it's under 250g? If that was the case then a flyer ID would be required.

Yeah, ok. But the subject was drone regs, so I was just saying  that we are not in Europe as far as regulations are concerned, we have our own.

I'm still a relative newbie at this hobby, so I don't profess to know all that is required to be 100% legal whilst flying drones. The drones that I fly just now are less than 250gms and are fitted with cameras, so at the moment, the drones display my operator details and I carry my flyer id details on my person in the event I am requested to show them to any authorised person who needs those details. I do, in the future want to purchase heavier and better equipped drones but will probably wait until the 2 years grace of flying 'legacy'? drones is finished. Then again, I may just buy one now and fly it for the next 18 months or so. Who knows? Nice conversing with you stupat78. Stay safe!

Just to clarify, thats not a legal position for the OP ID. It should be visible outside, unless i am wrong.

It’s quite legal. It has to be visible without requiring tools to access it.

Here is the instructions from the caa.
How to label your drone or model aircraft
Your operator ID must be:
  • visible from the outside, or within a compartment that can easily be accessed without using a tool
  • clear and in block capitals taller than 3mm
  • secure and safe from damage
  • on the main body of the aircraft

I use my Brother QL720W label printer with the ridiculously expensive but very good Yellow Film (DK-22606) and print a 29mm long label (62mm is the fixed width of the "paper"). Fits perfectly on the top of the Mini and Mini 2. In addition to UK Operator ID I also have

REWARD IF RETURNED
Property of Peter Galbavy
email / mobile (with country code)
UK/EU: GBR-OP-xxx
AU ARN: xxx

The last bit since I am also registered in Oz, and if this damned pandemic would ever go away I would probably be there about now...

I appreciate I'm bumping an old thread but how did you make that fit on the arm itself.

I've just bought a DJI Mini 2 and even printed at about 2.5mm, it's far too long to fit on the arm.  In fact, it looks rubbish stuck on the side!
Thanks.

I printed it on a label and stuck it on the back side of the folding propeller leg. Its a nice flat surface with plenty of room for the label printed in a medium font for easy visibility.

I printed mine and stuck them on each side. I was told when i got my p107 that I still had to have this on my drone so even though its a mini I still put it on for a few reasons. but the main 1 is if i had a fly away and got lost hopefully some that finds it will be honest and call me and tell they found it . but lets hope that never is needed right.
