In order to gain experience with the FPV drone, I definitely didn't want to forego practicing on the simulator beforehand!
Practice - together with the goggles and the original controllers (standard RC as well as motion controller).
Because at least an iPhone 7 and iOS 11 are required, I looked around for something that was inexpensive to buy.
The risk of a crash (without simulator experience) was just too great for me ...

Now I am totally surprised:
iPhone 8, like new, for 200 EUR ...
Not the slightest scratch, neither front nor back, and the frame completely undamaged. Everything was easy to set up ...
Even inductive charging works.
I had to set up an Apple ID first.
When setting up for the very first time, insert a nano SIM card, then configure WLAN. The SIM card (of course) does not stay in the iPhone, you still need it in the Android smartphone (Samsung S20).
iOS update to 14.4.2 can be obtained without any problems.
And:
- the simulator works, perfect ...
- as if you actually fly with all your accessories
Perfect.
I can only recommend it, repairs are definitely much, much more expensive ...

iOS has its advantages. 1 of them being it just works. And it works well.
Android is also good as the freedom it gives is much better.
I’m an iOS user. But I have cone to like Android also.

I thought I read somewhere that there were issues with the new iPhone 12.

I have an old iPhone SE (1st gen) that is having some screen issues and I was about to get a new iPhone ... thought I'd find out if there were issues with the DJI FPV first

Well, after trying everything I had laying around, android phones, tablets, etc. I bought a brand new iPhone 7 from my service provider, Tracphone. It updated to ios ver 14.4.2 and I must say, I like it! And it let me activate my stuff.
