what do you do after flight? Charge fpv battery back to 50 or leave it under 30 assuming you don’t know when you will fly again?

Manual states.
It is recommended to discharge the Intelligent Flight Batteries to 30% or lower. This can be done by flying the aircraft outdoors until there is less than 30% charge left.

So...0-30% is recommended? No undercharge issue?

I charge until the third battery light starts to flash which is about 45%

I used to work in a liPO manufacturing plant and 40% was the optimum for long term storage of cell packs.

Great question. Another area where the DJI manual falls short. I’ll be watching this ...

Main thing is the resting voltage of the cells should be 3.80V to 3.85V.  In my experience thats about the best storage voltage. But for temp storage of a few weeks anywhere between 3.7 and 3.9 is ok.

That’s what i do, but 3rd light blinking means 50-75.

You are using third party charger to charge dji batteries?

Hello there. Good day and thank you for these information you have given. In addition to this I will post a link ( https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... ty_Guidelines_9.pdf ) where in you can check the DJI FPV Disclaimer and Safety Guidelines manual. This manual includes the proper way od storing your DJI FPV's intelligent flight batteries. Thank you.

DJI Stephen, thanks for posting that... but again, the manual doesn’t help here, and definitely doesn’t say what recommended voltage or charge percentage should be when not in use.

Where does 3.8V in the batter equate to in charge percentage? This is something DJI should provide.

100 cycles and the battery is finished? So $2 a flight that lasts 5 mins..

There’s also a discrepancy with the manual. It recommends to discharge it under 30 after flight, but the battery auto discharges to 60 after 5 days of no use to extend the life?

So if it recommends 30, why is auto discharge not 30 but 60?

No, I'm using the regular charger, but I assume you can look at the cell voltages in the goggles....

Definitely not clear.

My guess is that the auto discharge to 60 is a good safety measure if it’s left at too high a state of charge. While that’s good, for longer storage, something closer to 30% is ‘better.’ Who knows why it was built this way.

100% > 60% = Safety
30% = General storage and “better”

I’d also like to know if you guys are storing these in fire-safe areas or bags? The ‘internet’ has me worried that Lipos are quite unsafe, but I think that’s in extreme misuse cases.

So I left a battery untouched for a week that’s under 20%.  It did not hibernate as the manual said it would.. anyone else have had their battery auto hibernate?
