Hi all!

I received my FPV Combo on Monday of this week and I love it! I had a quick question, and maybe it is too early / still in development, but are there any plans for quieter props? I understand there are many factors at play here, like weight of the craft, rotational speed, etc. But I was curious if anyone has figured out how to make it a little quieter. I don't expect silence, it's an FPV drone, but a little improvement in the sound would be nice.

Screams like a banshee at 1/2 throttle! But what a blast too!

The noise isn't from the props, it's from the motors. The drone is underpowered for its weight-class with a relatively poor power-to-weight ratio, as a result the motors have to spin more at higher RPMs to produce the required thrust resulting in higher noise volumes.

Unfortunately there isn't enough clearance between the props to fit larger diameter props... larger props would allow the same amount of thrust to be produced at lower RPMs for a quieter operation.

I love the sound of it screaming.
Makes me happy everytime.

There are some “low noise” props on Amazon. I’m wondering if anyone will test them to see if they really are quieter... and perform.

Thank you for the reply. After letting it hover and walking around it, you are right, the noise is mostly the motors whirring. The props actually aren't too loud unless you are really on it. But the motor noise drowns that out.

Larger props would do the trick, but there just isn't the room. Maybe quad blade props, but I am sure that introduces all kinds of additional issues!

My favorite thing so far has been banking in turns at full speed and listening to it scream by. It definitely grabs others attention!

From the videos I have watched it makes my phantoms seam positively quiet.

Do you have data to support this theory that the drone is under powered?

Me too only my neighbours hate it lol

Have some curved fins custom designed online, They should have used a curved prop design but went with tapered as they were easier to manufacture, having a curved prop design will reduce the high pitched sound..

Has anyone tried to do a ground test without props to see how loud the motors are?

I can tell you definitively, the majority of the noise is the props.

Test it for yourself.

Yea the motors with no props isn't loud. With props, engage Banshee. There are some videos on youtube of prop swaps and tests. Mostly I think you have to get a prop adaptor set to use other quad props. I don't want to link anything because I'm not sure what is allowed and not allowed to post here.Watch Captain Drone on youtube, he has a few DJI FPV videos and he teaches and tests a lot.
