This thread actually makes me think of my three boys. For the most part they get along, but when they don't, they don't. It's hard for me to depict any amount of respect from most anyone's post in this one. But I digress.
It's been my experience through a three different drones, starting out with the tello, the mavic mini and the mavic air 2. I'm by no means rich and actually bought the mini and the air 2 on payments. I know exactly how this can feel to make the decision to buy one and then another one come out. I waited until I had the mini paid off till I decided to get the air 2 and not long after that the air 2s rears it's head. I would love to upgrade to the AS2 but I'm still paying on the MA2 so thats not in the works. Sure, I could sell the MA2 and probably get enough to pay off the amount I still owe on it, but then if I wanted the A2S I'd have to go back in debt for it. So I have decided to keep what I have and be happy with it as the mini and the MA2 does everything I need from them. As far as update requests, my mind set is I read what each drone was advertised for before I bought them. I don't think its too unheard of for a feature request, but there is such thing as asking too much. When I bought the MA2, it was not advertised as having zoom capabilities when shooting video, but they brought that to us. A little extra gravy on our biscuits there. And I use that feature a lot and love that they gave that to us. Although they did not have to. Technology moves at a blistering fast pace, much like cell phones today. Just recently found a way to get an iphone 12 pro max without breaking the bank, but in a short few months, it won't be so shiny and new anymore. I do think that DJI will keep pushing updates to all their older drones, mostly database updates and tweaks and fixes for safety issues and they may even give us a feature update as well, but I won't hold my breath on it once it reaches a certain point, the product blooms as thats pretty much it at that point.
I both get and understand that it stings to see something newer and shinier than the one that we just bought, been there and done that with more than just drones. Just wishing for more than likely the impossible that some folks would have more empathy and others, more understanding.
As always, have fun and fly safe!! |
