Need like 6 drone batteries.  The connection is so spot on and Sport mode is incredibly intuitive whether you are going fast, slow, or in between.  The only time you should get scared is when you get 3 bars or less.  Keep it at 4 bars with a solid connection and the only worst part of flying is knowing it's time to land.

Generally to maintain good connection keep the drone within approx a 100 degree arc of the remote. I found this really helped.
I still only get approx 1km range though.

It depends where it is.  Sometimes even 200m can make it lose signal.
