Is it just me or is the pan axis not centred when locked? My gimbal looks ever so slightly out meaning the camera is ever so slightly pointing to the left. Note this is straight out of box and is now just a few weeks old with zero assignments done with it.

Sure thing! Maybe one of the mods can flag this with DJI to find out if its a batch design flaw or if its intentional and tell us why... @DJI Stephen

Mine was exactly the same when I got my RS2 - very annoying.

Using the app, I calibrated/reset the pan joint angle and everything has been spot on since doing this.

I just tried recalibrating the “horizontal” via the app... nothing changed. Still ever so slightly off centre. I might try to do a full reset later. I’m surprised DJI don’t allow for a manual correction of degrees in the app.
Still waiting on reply from DJI and mods

This is how it looks when locked off (gimbal off) Briefcase handle and monitor arm attached to NATO attachments illustrate how out of line it is.

And cross referencing to a previous thread and issue with the RS2 it appears my pan joint angle is less than 1 so doesn’t require adjustment (according to that thread)

It doesn't matter what the app says, it's obviously not ok and is out of alignment so reset the joint angle and all will be solved.

Mine was the same, double tap to centre was out from new. Reset the pan joint angle even though the app said it was fine like yours and all has been smooth as silk since.

Okay I’ll give it a shot this afternoon

Okay so correcting the centre position via the joystick to the visual centre, holding down pan axis joint angle for six seconds in the app to perform a offset calibration works. Is it a fix? Well at least my camera is pointing the right direction at the expense of the arms looking out of line with the handle (about a 5 degree rotation to the right of centre). It doesn’t help that the tilt axis arm is not in line with pan axis arm which I would assume should be 90 degrees when looking down at the two, it’s more like 85.

I dropped 1000AUD on what I’d expect to be precision equipment but looks like it was built by a five year old. Very disappointing DJI...

Read through my post you’ll see I’ve resolved it by using the app as suggested by another user. Best of luck let me know how you get on.

What do the camera electronic levels look like?

Placing the gimbal on a level surface, does the image look off?

If any other of the axis is off, just reset their joint angle.

Horizontal level is fine. But looking at the angle difference between the tilt arm and the pan arm from above I would assume this should be a right angle 90 degrees and that the baseplate would follow the line of the pan axis arm, instead it is pointing inwards slightly. To compensate for this the pan axis needs to be biased even more to the right to have the lens pointing forward and centred. This added to an already offset calibration to correct the pan axis to centre.

Thanks yes horizontal isn’t a problem although I should check that when I get home. If you look at the photo with the camera on the gimbal you can see the alignment of tilt and pan arm isn’t straight (look at the angle of the camera viewfinder to the roll axis motor). This is compounding the pan centre issue and can’t be adjusted by app as the tilt/pan angle is due to the tilt arm bending inwards which is a physical flaw

If someone with an RSC2 can chime in with whether their axis arms display similar issues or not that would be very useful.

I can see what you are saying but I assume that the image was taken with a wide angle lens and not the best way to judge if the arms are lining up hence why I suggested putting the gimbal on a level surface and see if the cameras pitch and roll levels are ok. Pan the gimbal and see if these change.

Properly balance the camera on gimbal. Double tap to centre the gimbal and frame a scene with a window or door with horizontal and vertical lines in the frame. Take a still image with a standard to moderately wide lens so not to introduce lens distortion open in PS and see if there is any keystoning suggesting the gimbal is out of alignment.

And soooo I upgraded to an RS2 and everything is just dandy. Shame I got burned by a bad rsc2, it was bad there’s no two ways about it, it was bad out of the box, naughty DJI.
