As i realised, mavic air is being discontinued due to mavic air 2 and rumord air 2s. So what will happened to all of customers including me who paid an amount of money to buy it in 2018? Batteries are very difficult to find if we got lucky to find in Europe. Should we sell them? Should we smash them? Follow on support is a major issue and unfortunately Dji couldn't stand! I will be glad if i could hear news from Dji's specialists.

Mavic Air is not available anymore, batteries are not available anymore...draw your own conclusions. You can start by preparing a recipe for cooking the drone...with potatoes and ketchup...

Totally agree! Early days of Dji when it was playing by its own without competitors were very good for company and customers as well! Nowadays competition is strong and it's getting stronger and if Dji couldn't listening its (former) customers, probably is time to look at it (competition) and take decisions. I've taken mine. Thank you Dji for initiating me into drone world but it is time to look forward.

it's frustrating, I have cameras over 10 years old and I can buy new batteries !!!

What really surprises me are the Mavic Air owners, nobody protests...why?  I'm sure there are thousands of cases because this drone was a big seller. We should protest and get a solution. If it is obsolete then release the code, ...release the code...so we can build our own batteries and repair our drone. Nobody told me that I would have to throw the drone in the trash when new versions were released.

Yes, please, buy the new Mavic Air 2S..buy it buy it...the camera is excellent but remember...you will use the drone as a paperweight when the Mavic Air 2XL be released!!!

Totally agreed with you! But unfortunately DJI will not listen us. Unfortunately we are minority and majority. Dji is working as a company according to its profit.

This really irritates me as well.  I spent $1000.00 on the MAVIC Air Fly More Combo in late 2019.  When I spend that much money, I expect to use the product for a very long time.  This was a very large purchase for me.  I wish I had known earlier that they don’t support their products after a few years.  That’s extremely poor customer service.

So just how do I update the firmware now? The DJI Assistant 2 will, after numerous attempts, connect to my drone but it refuses to see the controller. So I now have a controller and an aircraft that will not speak to each other without a firmware update and no way of doing it. Now every time I turn the drone on I have to relink the controller.

I understand that they stop manufacturing a product but I do not understand that they stop manufacturing their spare parts and especially the batteries, what do we do with the drone if we do not have batteries?

I am angry too. I have products from other brands (Gopro, Canon, SJcam, Fuji, ...) with more than five years and I can still buy batteries and accessories for them. Why does DJI do this with its customers?

That is, they continue to sell the drone but there are no official batteries or firmware updates because it cannot be connected to the Assitant. I think selling a discontinued product can be considered a scam, right?

That is a bummer that once it's discontinued they stop making batteries. Three years isn't a very long time for such an investment for alot of folks. If you're handy with a soldering iron maybe you can open up the housings and replace the cells yourself? I guess with my Mini 2 I'll have to keep an eye out for when it starts getting older and grab some replacements before they're gone. Either that or sell it and upgrade to whatever the top <250g drone is in the future.
Edit: On 2nd thought replacing the cells might not be so easy after watching this:

No way I will be able to replace the inside cells, so I better stock up while I can get them before the next gen Mavic 3 comes out. I just have to make sure the batteries I buy will be manufactured preferable this year 2021, so that they will last a few years more. As the serial number is outside the box and I can see the box before I buy it or the seller tells me the Nr, I can check it here when it is manufactured. http://tools.retroroms.info/

Oh Bull..... End of Life??? What a joke!!!  F you and DJI.  I bought the Mavic Air 3 years ago. Now it's obsolute.  Cant get the aircraft to connect unless I use the QR code and even then I still cant get the POS (THAT MEANS PIECE OF ...) to take off.  F this company and everything it stands for.

This is unacceptable, it is the company 's obligation to provide for the parts of the product, included the batteries. My last Magic Air 1 battery died some days ago and now I can't find any new batteries to buy. They have to either start making again parts for the Mavic Air, or refund the buyers with the full price of the product , or at least offer a discount for the buying of a new DJI drone model, equal to the price of the Mavic Air 1. Although I don't want to leave my beloved Mavic Air...

I know the pain not finding new or replacement battery for end of life Mavic Air. I think DJI owe everyone’s big money and they should keep on selling new battery. Maybe they should looking to buy a drone made in America not from China.

Inform as many as possible. By word, on all the forums etc. To protect innocent future buyers and to make a statement to DJI that this is not the way.
Most people nowadays check out the Internet before making purchases.

Same with the Mavic 2 series. No more batteries available unless you buy the expensive batteries for the Mavic Enterprise model. And who knows when they will discontinue those too. I've two Mavic 2 including Smart Controller and so on and an additional one which I've bought used. That's about $4,000 that will soon end up in the trash can after only two years of usage so far. Therefore, I will give up the drone hobby after my batteries don't work anymore.

Or looking for a company with a reasonable long term spare part support.

I completely agree. I paid a little less than a thousand euro's on a high quality drone and now, four years later, batteries are impossible to find. Two out of three batteries just died after a few months of not flying. I don't even know WHY they died, just that they did. I'm lucky one survived, or I'd be throwing the tantrums to end all tantrums. In any case, you got one less customer in me with practices like this. But hey, you got my money, so what does dji care? (they don't)

Hi, there. Sorry to hear about that. Please kindly note that the batteries have chemical properties. If the battery is idle for a long time, its performance will be affected. The over-discharge, collision and other reasons may cause the battery to be damaged, which is the characteristic of the battery. We cannot completely reproduce the specific using environment of different users, so we cannot directly determine the cause of this problem. Since the warranty period of the battery is 1 year, we suggest you use other normal batteries. Thanks for your understanding.

The issue is simple:  Start making Mavic Air (no... not Mavic Air 2... or 3) batteries again for the customers who trusted that you would.

I have a Sony NEX-7 camera that I purchased in 2012, and I can still get batteries for that.  Even though it has long been superseded by newer camera models.

I bought my drone when i was 11 years old for 700€, only to realise, that now i can't buy batteries.

Never buying a DJI product again. As mentioned above by others, looking for a quick win. Not loyalty. Not repeat customers.

The day they start providing batteries for the Mavic Air (1) is the day that I'll consider becoming a customer again.

1000 EUR for a device that lasts for 2 years if you no longer have any batteries. And their Care plan for 2 years is probably worth nothing if they can't even provide you with batteries. Horrible.

Since DJI does not support Mavic Air (cannot even get DJI Fly 4 to even open) should I just try a 3rd party controller software? Will never purchase a DJI drone again.

Fortunately I bought 5 batteries when I purchased my Mavic Air, and they all still perform. Luckily. However when this drone dies I shall not purchase another drone from DJI. Maximizing profits over decent customer service is a disease of modern corporations nowadays. I’m sick of corporate greed heads; godamn them all.

In UK, our law would be Not Fit For Purpose and would go against company in court!

It is embarrassing that mavic air 1 users have to stop using our drone after only a couple of years of use for not having spare parts for a consumer good such as a battery.

And it seems incredible to me that in an official DJI forum, no one from DJI gives an answer on the issue of battery stock.

In Spain, according to Law 7/1996, manufacturers or importers must supply spare parts for 5 years from the date of end of manufacture of a product, we will have to write to DJI Spain and remind them.

I’ve been wondering what options I have with my leftover magic air gear due to me losing my drone in the ocean lol yes unfortunate but things happen. I have extra batteries remote, bag and accessories. Im currently in the market for a new drone but wondering if any credit is given or like I said any options or info on what I can do with it before just selling it. Thanks

And here we are, months after my original post. I've long since given up on getting my hands on a new battery. I'm never buying a dji drone again, and I will tell everyone I know, to avoid your company like the plague. I guess we can see what is truly important. Yes, I understand that in the end, you want to make money, but by doing something like this, you'll lose out on more sales and thus on more money. But I swear, if they open a new line at some point in the future, with batteries costing twice more, as they did before they stopped production, I'd be even angrier.

Not about the theoretical re-opening of a new line (unlikely as that is) but at the increase in price. (Again, this is just a 'what if' scenario.)

In any case, you figure that for a THOUSAND euro drone, you get quality, right? Yea, well, I guess I should've known better than to buy a Chinese product. I am very disappointed, that's all I can say. disappointed and angry.

So the DJI FLY app doesn’t have my Mavic air in the selection. So now what? It’s a paper weight? I can’t fly it anymore? It cannot connect to any of the apps.

It's been so long that I can't see Mavic air batteries in stocks. This is not good at all.

I'm sorry I should say DJI SUCKS in this case. In ali express ebay there are batteries but they are used ot refubrished.

DJI should not have discontinued batteries. This is is insane. Discontinuing drone is fine. But this is not the fking way doing a business.


Shame on this case. Really fking dissapointed.
