Thanks for sharing DA.    Lots of rumors and speculation circulating over the Air 2S.  Will be interesting to see how many turn out to be true.  Personally, I'm more interested in what the Mavic 3 might bring.  Saw on a couple of videos and web sites that Jan 2022 could be a more credible release date for the Mavic 3.

Too bad then. But still, hope it at least improves upon the old mavic air 2. After seeing people's reviews of air 2 active track 3.0 capabilities, I was a bit underwhelmed really.

Only one question runs into my head:


If the controller of the Mavic air 2s is similar (or the same) to that of the Air2 ?? Could the Mavic Air 2 also become Ocusync 3.0 ??
Could they have changed the hardware so much to make it compatible with this new standard OR is it just a software update ?? What is the difference between OcuSync 2.0 and OcuSync 3.0 ???

This would also open the doors to the Mavic Air 2 to use the new goggles

Yes sure but how much internal?  Hardware or only software?
If the Ocusync 3.0 is only an improvement of the modulation, transport...it is possible that a software upgrade can be made it possible also on Air 2.

Unless a more powerful processor is needed to improve the protocol ...

Dont expect the Air 2 to get much attention when the next version is realised,  there isnt a continual improvement program on these drones,  you get what you pay for and maybe a tweak here or there.   Look at the 2 Pro,  thats not seen a feature for over a year now and its still current in the line up.

Nope, but if the specs are right about sensor size it needs quite a gimbal + everything else to accompany it.

After the translation period they will fall into a legacy category where you will have to be 150m away from people, structures, buildings, vehicles etc so basically renegaded to open empty farmland or countryside.  The exception is the mini as it’s under 250g without classification it falls into a category where you can even fly over people but when it’s classified the rule changes from weight to mtom so it moves up a category.

it means that during the transitional period it will fly in A2 subcategory and from 2023 it will only be able to fly in A3 subcategory.

If it had C1 certificate it could fly in A1 in the transitional period and A1 after 2023.

A3 means you have to keep at least 150m from any populated area or person.

A pitty they didn't upgrade the batts, I suppose real usable flight time will be around 18-20 min, like the Mini2 (at least it flies faster and OS3 will be a huuuuge advantage for long range).

Also the 1 inch camera will be awesome for photos.

I'm guessing it's using he same batteries, so that's good for people who have bought many of them. Not needing to buy new ones to go with the new version.

From the specs it has the same RC231 controller as the mini 2 so may not do OC3.

Do you know you can send a notification and reserve airspace to fly BVLOS?

You can do it through ENAIRE planea in Spain, don't know the equivalent in other countries.

And yep, I already have A1/A3, A2 and STS certificates...

My question to DJI is does the Air 2S already comply with the soon to be implemented FAA Remote I.D. mandate that will require drones to transmit their ID information and the location of the drone and the pilot. If they are not then this will be an issue in less then 2 years when the mandate is implemented since they will not be able to fly practically anywhere in the U.S.

No waypoints, no sale.  (And I am not referring to Hyperlapse, or with virtual sticks).
