Nobody seems to be mentioning FAA registration. Are people skipping this step and just going alone with the DJI binding during activation?

I’m not sure I follow you SubVet. Is binding and activation related to FAA Registration? I paid my $5 for three years, just need a nice label with my “tail number” now.
Unless part 107 is different?

I want to be careful what i say in a public forum but I'm running into different interpretations of the registration process and requirements for UAVs as i travel.

I hear ya. But it seems pretty straightforward to me. The DJI FPV is more than 250 grams, less than 55 lbs. Regardless of how you want to use it (hobby or for business) it’s $5 for three years and that covers every drone you own. They all share your one personal registration number.

It does seem that many homemade quads dont do this step.
