I have owned my DJI Mini 2 for 1 week.  I am in 'ground school' seeking any and all the best information for a new flyer.  I have read through the entire DJI Mini 2 Forum, and subscribed to and viewed several videos from the following YouTube Channels:

Welcome! Looks like you've selected the right stuff on YT. Also recommend '51 Drones' and Ken Heron on YT. Ken is great entertainment yet very informative!

I make this suggestion to anybody starting out with a new drone ( even if they are experienced with other drones but especially "newbies")
Take off the props, power on, and connect everything like you are going to take off/fly and put the drone on a table, etc, and just go through EVERY setting, sub-menu/option, etc to familiarize yourself to the app and its multi-layered menus.
Some options won't be available if not in flight, of course, but you will be able to find stuff and it will be easier in flight.

Since you use AirData, have a look at theirs too on the app. I have a hybrid of checklists both pre- and post-.

Thanks, I only had the sync app, It shows in the Airdata app that you need an Enterprise subscription for the checklist option.  I love how I can review my flights and the Ok To Fly screen!  

Looks like a pretty nice and comprehensive start already. Though some of the things you'll experience and learn as you fly anyway so give it a shot flying while learning.

Hi,

Do you know how to check your drone compass before starting a flight and why
this is so important to do for each takeoff ??

All items on all checklists are worth to check, but compass check is THE check wich saves drone lifes....

Yes, I saw that in one of the videos I watched.  I have realized I need to let it hover for a bit before everything lines up..

hi,

No, that is not correct!

Before starting blades, check in the map view Flyapp the orientation of your drone.
The blue arrow indicates the heading of your drone.
Check this heading to the actual heading of yor drone.
If not the same, do not fly.

If you hover with a wrong compass you can get a fly-away!

Hi,

This is my compass check from today, see picture.

Drone actual heading MA2 perpendicular to the water line,  indeed seen in the flyapp map view.
So compass drone = oke.
