Hi folks. I'm often reading about people needing to do or doing an IMU (inertial measurement unit) calibration.
Is this something that one should do on a regular basis, like the compass calibration, or only if there is some sort of problem?
I've had a P3A since 2015. Kept the firmware up-to-date, occasionally calibrate the compass but never the IMU.
Current firmware:

I wouldn't mess with it unless you have a reason.  I don't think I have ever calibrated either of my P3P IMU's.  Good luck

Neither the compass or the IMU need re-calibration unless there's a particular problem that needs fixing.
If the compass and IMU were fine last flight, they should be now as well.

Hi, cheddar-man. Thanks for reaching out and posting your inquiry. The IMU doesn't require regular calibration and suggested that you calibrate it only if there's a prompt in the DJI GO or the aircraft status indicator prompt you to do so.
