Hard to say Suren,  I think it might be real based on some others going 17km.

He uses a battery mod, and may be using an amplified antenna like the Alientech one.

On stock drone and stock controller he did about 7Km (go and back) on a windy day.

With sensors deactivated max distance should be about the same as the Air 2, or a little less, but depends on the angle of attack and the efficiency of the blades. Air 2S cruises 9Km/h faster than the Air 2 so although it drains more battery due to it's weight, travles faster.

Same thing happened when comparing the range of the Air 2 vs the Mavic 2. Despite having less official flightime (the same as Air2S) the Mavic 2 achieved longer ranges than the Air 2 due to it's faster travel speed in normal mode.

Although Air 2 and Mavic 2 perform better on stock at long range (Air 2S is bottlenecked by the battery), a modified Air 2S with double battery and Alientech 2.4Ghz boosted antenna on the controller should be the best long range quadracopter now, due to it's 4 inbuilt antennas.

In the comments he says the controller is stock (19Km in CE mode, lol).

He has another video with all stock, the 14Km one has at least the battery mod, as can be seen at the end of the video. The thing on top is an extra battery taped to the drone. On stock in a windy day he does 7Km (14Km total) and returns at 0%.



Another youtuber called Hatu also does range test on stock drones, but hasn't done the test on the Air 2S yet, he did 9.5Km (18Km total) with the Mavic 2 and about the same with the Air 2. With the Mini 2 he did 5Km (10Km total).

The Mini 2 can work nicely at 0m-3Km range and with the Air2S I'd expect double that as it travels much more efficiently (Normal mode on Air 2S is like sports mode on Mini 2 XD) and has 4 antennas.

Of course if you know where to shoot the inteligent thing is to take off closer to the shooting point (less travel time = more shooting time). Just find a nice quiet place within a 500m radious for VLOS and you ar good to go. But for exploration and long range that O3 and 54Km/h cruise speed will be awesome.

PS: Most people use the drone as a long selfie stick, so within 500m any drone works perfect anyways. I can fly my Mini 2 to 500m and maintain 4-5 bars even without pointing the controller directly. Air 2S with the 4 antennas will be 5 bars within a 500m radious no mater what.
