That's cool tech but it's not going to be replacing drones. It's hard for me to understand why you think it would.

I disagree.

It's really cool tech but I don't think the tech will reduce the demand for drones. If anything, it will make people want to buy a drone so they can be videoed while flying around with their jetpacks.

Who is "they"? DJI?

By M300, do you mean the Matrice 300? Based on the DJI product page, it looks like the Matrice 300 can fly with for 55 minutes as long as it is not carrying a payload.

I'm trying to figure out what this has to do with the jetpacks shown in the cool video in your original post?

Are you thinking the jets could be used to power drones? I've personally wondered about that myself. If you were to use jets to power a drone, I think you'd need a way to point the jets off towards the side like they do in the "Gravity Industries" jetpacks. The jets have throttle responses too slow to control a quadcopter. I think the jets could use thrust vectoring to obtain reasonable control of a quadcopter. These things would be crazy loud though.

I think a better way to get very long flight times is to use a hybrid system. A gasoline or diesel generator could keep the batteries of a large drone fully charged and use normal electric motors for thrust. I believe these type of drones already exist and they can fly all day on a single tank of fuel.

yeah, definitely be cool to have a hybrid system w/ all kinds of ways, wing, jet pack, and props
The fact it's even possible to travel like that w/ jet pack is pretty insane.  Once computing gets better and better, people should be able to travel from house to house like it's normal.

I don't see how this can even be compared to drones, Apples and Pears imo

Nice find and very cool technology.  However, not sure it would place a drone.
