Prehistoric rock art in a medieval stone clearing.

When I was doing some research for my next flight I started looking at prehistoric rock art and discovered that there was a stone with cup engraving on it in a medieval stone clearing field- within walking distance of my home. As someone who listens to Richard Herring’s stone clearing podcast I thought I would have a quick flight. (He calls them ftones in the old English style.)

I agree.  With the advent of the drone, you will learn a lot of interesting things.  Sometimes very close ...

Try to imaging, in how many years, small farmers has walking around on the fields, with Horses and small carriages, and collected Stones, to build these walls ;-)  And now, we fly around with a little Drone at the same places, just by moving some small sticks on a remote controller!

to be honest I have done both - some of the wall in the far distance was built by me

An interesting artefact. I wonder how long those stones have lain undisturbed? If it was for millennia, you would expect Nature to have covered them over by now ?

The large stone shows erosion. The others are from medieval times but the drone pilot is the one that has most signs of wear and erosion
