If the mavic mini is 249g and dose not require a license.
What advantage do you have getting a Recreational license.
Do you gain anything by getting the Recreational license.

You are confused.
There is no "recreational licence"
At <250g the Mini does not require registration for recreational use..
But if you were to use it commercially, it would still require commercial registration.

No, but you lose $5

Keep in mind that if you add anything to the Mini, it is no longer under 250g.  For example, when I fly at night (somewhat regularly), I put strobes on the Mini.

Ok that’s what I was wondering.
I did get the $5 SmallUAS Certificate regrestration  that I have to place my number on any drone I fly.
I did notice that I can go over the 249g.
So is that the only thing I Gaines for $5
