Yes you can replace it with the new version.
I would guess DJI modified it for a reason, so it should be better, but if you don't have any compass issues then I would leave things alone.
Maybe someone with both can tell us if it is a different compass or just the old one with a plastic shield attached ?

Actually we can't use new Compass V2 with old version Phantom2.

That would mean the new Version Phantoms are different in hardware when the new compass dont fit the older phantoms. So its not only a shielded old version compass.

Where do I buy the new compass?  I am having calibration issues.  Very hard to calibrate.  I haven't been able to find anywhere online that sells the new compass.

So this new compass, is it the one with the thick round white cable and its encapsulated in plastic ?

Correct; the new one is encased in plastic and has a white cable.

Cool, glad because mine is like that.  So I don't have old stock.

I'm also interested in the answer to this as I've just ordered the new one from eBay for my v2+, I wasn't having any problems but i figured for 17.00 it was worth the upgrade. I hope it works..

John I would say it is upgradeable. I live in London England however check out this upgrade kit Drone Camps in the USA is offering to upgrade the previous version of the P2V+ http://www.dronecamps.com/#!prod ... ack-w-5.8ghz-remote
