I applied and received a Small UAS Certificate of Registration from the FAA and it cost me $5.00 from the Faa. It says I have to install my number on every drone I fly. I think is over 249 grams I think.

I now have no ides what it is for or what I gain is to be able to fly a drone over 249 grams but I am not even sure of that.

As I understand it, it is required for drones over 250 grams.  Of course with a stock Mini, it is not over 250 grams, but if you add anything (for example strobes for night flights), you will be over 250 grams.  The rules change (I think) is you do any commercial work too.

Ok thanks. That explains it. I will not be doing any commercial and I am always over thee 249 grams.
