Lo a Belgian town, nice and quiet, and is known for its biscuit factory ...
Especially known for its typical natural butter wafers,
Jules Destrooper, a baker and trader in colonial goods, founded Biscuiterie Jules Destrooper in 1886. He enjoyed great success with his almond biscuits, and the company grew further. In 1956 the third generation took over the Brussels biscuit manufacturer R. Van Loo, known for its "Petits Sujets". The fourth generation, with two sons of Hubert, namely Patrick and Peter Destrooper, further increased the range from 1984 onwards. Because the factory in the city center of Lo became too small, it has been located on the Ieperlee Canal industrial zone in Ypres since 1987. The Lukken (These are so called in West Flemish) and Parisian waffles are mainly baked in Lo; other biscuits are made in Ypres.
Every year there are the Lukke - fiestas, but this year because of covid it has been limited to a walk with animation. And local beer afterwards :-)
