Hey Gang,
If your remote goes dead during the upgrade and your computer doesn't recognize the remote, I did the following to resolve the issue.

1. Re-Download the RC Software from DJI's support page.
2. Yes, replace the current one you have on your hard drive.
3. Open the RC Software with your remote plugged in.
4. Turn th eremote on(Will still look like it's dead.
5. Click on update software and it should recognize and update.
6. Turn the remote off and back on and it shoul dbeep and be good to go!
7. Do a recaliberation just to be safe!

That's the exact procedure to recover from a failed upgrade. Good info and thanks for posting. It may help another user. Works the same way for Windows OS users too.
