So im looking to start using my tablet to fly with my drone instead of my phone.
The problem is i was unable to find a sun hood that fits correctly. Most of them i saw for sale are made for ipads and dont have the correct mesurements for the Samsung S5E Tablet.
So i took the problem on my own hands and decided to make one myself.
Its made of cardboard that i covered in a black adesive and i used velcro tape to secure it to the tablet.
All the materials costed less than €3.The decal was courtesy of PGYTECH that sent 2 of them with the propeller holder i bought from them.

This is the end result:

Very professional looking, well done, in fact it looks better than some commercially available hoods.

Miguel Leitao, looks fine to me.  I have been thinking about the same project, no time yet.  I was thinking the distance from screen up to edge
of the shade to be about eight (8") inches, your shade looks to be longer, what is the distance for it?

How does it attach to the tablet? Velcro?

It uses velcro to attach to the tablet. I know thoose sun hoods Gary, and i could have bought one if i wanted but they dont fit my tablet. That sun hood is made for ipads that have a more square screen format. The maximum wide they have is 22cm and i need at least 24cm. That one, even the bigger one, will cut the sides of my sceen by almost 1cm on each side. Thats why it wasnt an option for me.

Im not really understanding what mesurement you want, is it the height of the sun hood? If its the height it haves 16cm or 6.3 inches.

So have you used the tablet to fly yet? Does the hood you made work well? I just bought a 10" iPad to use with the Air 2S. It's so much more screen than the small cellphone I've been using. Now I'll be able to see those utility wires I couldn't see before. = ] It's really hot here, so I'll wait to fly when it's not so bad.

I havent flown with the tablet yet because i only received the extender for the remote this week, and its been raining and windy. But as far has i tested everything works great. Im having just i minor issue where the Dji Fly App is unable to get my location even so my tablet have gps...

It looks good. And I see you've got a lanyard. That's probably something I should get. The controller with the iPad doesn't weigh much when first picked up, but I'm sure it might get tiring after an hour of holding it.

For long flights a lanyard is a must. You should get one.
