I have a beans to cup machine, and do like to get two cups in first thing.  Ive cut back a lot,   used to drink 10 cups a day.

Need that java to kick start the day.  I'd hate to guess how many cups a day I drank during my Naval career.  Coffee pots were brewing 24/7.  Not always the best tasting coffee but seemed to always have plenty of caffeine in it.  One time we resupplied from our base in Japan and the 20 pound coffee cans were all stamped 06/1942.  The supply depot must have broken out some of the old WW II stock.  LOL.

Yes, I have heard it called mud.  Sometimes on the ship it would taste like diesel or jet fuel had been used to brew it.  Probably a little bleed over from a fuel tank to a fresh water tank.  Or somebody opened a wrong valve down in engineering.  


Last I checked the average aircraft carrier was brewing over 40,000 cups of coffee daily while underway.  Unfortunately no beans to cup machines could keep up with that demand.

Diesel flavoured coffee,   makes a change to vanilla I guess.
