It’s to do with how the trees die and the wood is preserved,  it often happens if salt water flooded an area.

I believe they’ve been like that for over 200 years,  so I wouldn’t like to guess but I would like any bits that fall off to make some pens with.

From what I was reading online it appears it is personal property and posted for no trespassing.  However, it doesn't appear to be in a NFZ, so aerial exploring could still be done.
