The monastery basically is hiding behind tall trees. The only way to see it was through a drone

I'm not sure if you 'need' ND filters.
Usually you can set the exposure lower via either manual exposing OR using the EV compensation.
ND filters won't make your image darker, it only reduces the amount light that hits the sensor.  You need to correct the shutterspeed to get a darker image.
only when you are after a certain shutterspeed (or at them max shutterspeed) you need ND filters.

Good job you forgot the prop guards,  they are for indoor flying as wind will easily catch them and drag the drone off.
