Hello dear DJI community,

We are creating 3D models using the Zenmuse P1 and were really interested to take advantage of the Global Shutter function.

However, we have an issue recognizing if Global Shutter function is on or not while taking pictures.

The only setting we can put on and off is "Mechanical Shutter".
Today, we did a mission with the function turned off as we thought that the Global Shutter is electronic, not mechanic.

The results are great! But look what happens when cars passed the street:

To me, this looks like the result from a mechanical shutter, isn't it?

Does it mean that the Global Shutter is called "mechanical shutter" on the Zenmuse P1 settings?

Many thanks for your help,
- Florian, from Visualspect

Hello, Visualspect. P1 is equipped with global shutter. The P1 lens can use both mechanical shutter or an electronic shutter, and the mechanical shutter function can be turned on separately in the App.
Whether it is a global shutter is determined by the shutter mechanism. Mechanical shutter and electronic shutter are the two functions provided by the global shutter.
After opening the mechanical shutter, the mechanical shutter is used during operation. At this time, it can reach 1/2000s at its fastest, which suffices to do surveying and mapping.
The mechanical shutter contributes to accurate calculation of exposure time and high accuracy of surveying and mapping. It is recommended to open the mechanical shutter when surveying.
