So I went for a range test this morning and i get the return to home prompt so i hit confirm and pushed forward on the stick as I've done every time before however i ran out of battery before i made it back so had to go fetch it. Im wondering why if i hit confirm when the warning came up why did it not have enough to get back.I thought about the stick forward thing but its ALWAYS returned with plenty of battery in the past. This now gives me a uneasy feeling and ill probably cut my flight times cause of it

The answer to that will be somewhere in the recorded flight data.
If you want to find out, go to: https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
... where you'll find instructions.
That will give a report you can post a link for the report here.
Or just post the .txt file.

My guess is the AC had enough juice to fly home at normal speed but at high speed you more quickly depleted the battery. The log analysis tool mentioned above would help confirm or disprove this hypothesis.

Well, auto RTH doesn't take in account the wind, so if you are returning home against a decent wind it won't return unless you have plenty of battery

Same if your battery goes lower than 10%, it will cut the power, and It will not be able to fight the wind.
