I have a phantom 2 vision quadcopter.

I purchased some carbon fiber tri blades like these:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2207204

The problem is that the quad is basically uncontrollable with these props and tends to skyrocket with very poor directional control.  Fortunately I have not crashed it seriously.  The copter is very stable with the normal 2 bladed props.  I have not seen this problem mentioned elsewhere.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

DB

I haven't tried these on the Phantom but my understanding of how folding blades for (experience in helicopters) is that they prefer higher speeds and don't like to have quick changing speeds or they can lead/lag in the rotation.  A quad is constantly changing speeds and I could see how that could have a negative impact.  With RC helis we counter this somewhat by having the blades moderately tight such that they cannot fold over on their own momentum and we unfold them prior to flight; maybe try that and see if it helps.

DB, what you are doing wrong is using anything other than the standard DJI propellers on your Phantom....
