Sony A6400 with Raveneye blackscreens when pressing record

Hi all,

Hoping I'll be able to get some help here,

I have a Sony A6400 with a DJI RS2 and Raveneye, all on the latest firmware

I've plugged the USB-C to Sony Multi from the RS2's top port to the camera
I've got my micro HDMI out, into the HDMI on the Raveneye
I've got a USB-C to USB-C from the bottom of the Raveneye (the side without the HDMI port) into the RS2's bottom port

The problem I've got is that when I try to press the record button from either the RS2 or the Raveneye app, the screen goes black and activetrack stops working.

I was hoping I could get some help fixing this as its basically usable for me at the moment

I too have the same problem, as soon as I press the record button it goes black. I really hope there is a solution to this.

Hello, you can turn off the HDMI display in the camera, so there won't be the problem you said

I have done as instructed however no difference,

Below you can see the setting i toggled

I also took a video to show the problem however cant upload as an attachment on this forum as it only accepts pictures. Where should I upload the video.

I should note that when I press record, my camera screen turns back on, it sounds like you're facing a different issue Shehan, I'd suggest making a new thread about it to get more specialised help for your problem.

Just to be clear on my problem

Images below show my setup.

Before I press record, my camera screen is black, I can see my cameras output on the gimbal and raveneye, activetrack works

When I press record on the gimbal, camera, pr raveneye app, my phone and gimbal screens go black and my camera screen turns back on

Ive made some progress!

I disabled the proxy recording setting and I now manage to keep raveneye connected when pressing record!

However when I press record, now my cameras screen turns off... so we're getting closer.

P.s. shehan might be worth checking your proxy setting too?

Hi there, please use the Sony Multi cable instead of the Micro USB for the connection. See if that solves the problem. 1.png

Hi, just to clarify again, the Sony multi cable has a longer plug. In your case, please try to restore the camera to factory settings, and please power on the gimbal, then the camera.
If the issue persists, please provide a video of the case to us. You can upload the video to Dropbox/Google Drive, or send it via email to us at support@dji.com. Thank you very much.

I got my Raveneye and active tracking working when I change to Sony multi cable,  But I also face the same problem as you, the camera screen goes black when the record button is preesed. I hope there is a solution for it .

as a side note since I use my iphone to see what the camera see, for me even if the camera screen goes black it's still manageable because I prefer the big screen of my phone compare to the screen
in a6400.

Hi, thank you for getting back, I am confirming SerPip's case with our engineers and will keep you all updated once I hear back from them.
You may also try in 1080P resolution to see if all is working well.

Hi, I just wanted to confirm the screen remains on (as expected) while in 1080p mode, but not in 4k mode. I still would like to get this working in 4k mode as its the primary quality I record in.

Hi there, after confirming the case, we are sorry to tell you that since the camera does not support HDMI output in 4K resolution recording,  RavenEye gets a black screen in 4K recording. You may need to use 1080P in this situation. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, hope your understanding.

Any update on this?? I recently bought the rs3 pro combo and I have the Sony a6400 & im having this same problem! Is there a fix?
