I have searched and not gotten a real answer in regards to the Spark complying with the FAA Remote ID as it regards Part107 commercial drone usage.

Anyone know if the Spark can do it and its just a firmware upgrade or is some hardware missing or locked out preventing us from being able to use it.

Thanks!

The Spark is not that great.  You don't need Remote ID for it.

You are wrong.

https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/remote_id/

" The final rule (PDF) was published in the Federal Register on January 15, 2021 with an original effective date of March 16, 2021. Corrections made to the rule and published in the Federal Register on March 10, 2021 delayed the effective date to April 21, 2021.

There are three ways drone pilots will be able to meet the identification requirements of the remote ID rule:"

If you read that document you wont find the technical specification needed to implement the feature.

You are still wrong. Here is the AeroScope (What I now know DJI calls Remote ID) from a DJI Air 2S.

Please stop spreading false information.

Aeroscope is not remote id,  its a proprietary DJI product that only works on their drones.

No one really questions if you do things properly and it looks safe.  You can do all the authorizations right and stuff but if you don't know how to fly or maintain your drone, it's worse.  If you know for sure you can successfully control your drone, set proper RTH, you have your license, don't worry too much about following All the paper rules at Exactly 100%.

The reason why I said the Spark isn't great is because the feed is bad due to the camera transmission system but 100% it can be done of course.  It was my first drone and it's great.  The Ocusync 2.0 drones are a lot better for commercial use.  Some clients want 20MP quality.  Some don't care if you are using 12MP.  I don't think I've ever used the Spark commercially.  Started with an M2Z.  The range of that still beats my first M2P and my M2P RMA.  Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 isn't as great as the M2 live transmission wise but for on the move shots like orthomosaics it's better (better camera, mechanical shutter).  I would get a Mini 2 if you are doing commercial work at least for the sake of the transmission system but you really want to get an M2P if you are serious about commercial work.  It can pay for itself if you land the right clients.

FAA Website:
All drone pilots required to register their UAS must operate their aircraft in accordance with the final rule on remote ID beginning September 16, 2023, which gives drone owners sufficient time to upgrade their aircraft.

No, the Spark doesn't have remote ID, I would agree with AntDX316's first paragraph, so long as you don't do anything dumb in the air, no one will bother you.

Whether you think the Spark isn’t that great has nothing to do with his question. I’m curious to what makes you think the spark is not so great? Other than its flight time?

The live feed, the camera quality, the video quality under not super bright conditions.  Mavic 2 is like 10x better than the Spark.  The idea is to get what you need to get with the least amount of issues possible but this starts with being able to respond and it being able to respond when you can't.

The Spark's camera quality being "crap" makes it not so great, it lags.  It's hard to tell where you are as the image quality isn't so clear.  The image output isn't super bad but just not at the level of "commercial" quality though it's better than nothing.

With just the Spark drone, it can save tons of headache, plenty of issues that could save "the living" billions of dollars.  Prevent lives from "resting in peace" too soon.  It's definitely not "bad" but not great.
