Should the Mavic 2 Pro replacement be rain proof?

With the miserable weather we have been experiencing and the constant warning of more floods making the Mavic 2 replacement rain proof would greatly increase out chances of flying.

Yes and if the Mavic 3 is not water resistant, a self opening drone umbrella activated by a rain sensor is the solution. *

* Don't ask where one is available. I'm just suggesrng the basic idea. ☺

Good idea, but may be difficult with the cooling vents and collection of water inside??? Perhaps using a drain pipe somewhere???

The video output is quite useless in the rain (I speak from experience)

I think thats where the innovation comes in,  a design change to make it water proof and cool differently,  just like with the iPhone it doesn't have any vents and it water proof and can deal with cooling in other ways.

Did you see the footage of listening taken in the rain with a Air2S that had been sealed up,   quite amazing lightening shots.

I have a little outro thats short and sweet,  and if they turn off when they see it they've already sent he content.

Exactly. That is much better.
And sometimes they use a 15 sec intro for a 40 sec vid.....

Never had one shut down.  But high cpu usage plus charging will cause the screen to dim.

The video would be garbage. In a storm the small craft would be potentially destroyed.

Did you see the post on the forum last week where someone was flying their A2S in a storm to capture lightening.  he got some great footage.

Perhaps the video may not be so good, if a lot of rain hits the front of the lens? But should you get caught in the rain, it would be good it it could  handle the rain.

Ive been caught out like that twice so far,  set off for a flight with an overcast sky,  then boom, heavens open I need to fly back 1000 ft or so.

Yes I agree, that in this case, water proofing would certainly be good.

If it were to be waterproof then the hot air cannot get out and cold air cannot get in.  Waterproofing electronics that get hot only work if water is flowing on their heatsinks from the outside.  Overheating is a worse issue than it being waterproof.  Flying in the rain is no good because the water droplets going on the lens ruin the footage but it can still be done.

Rain-proof drone would open up a whole new world at least for me. I almost don't want to think about how nice it would be because it sounds like a pipe dream
