The old battery.....

Went to see if I could get inside the old abandoned battery,  however a new fence has been errected since I was last there and although there was some rope provided to climb over, SHMBO'd was present and would not have been very impressed.   

So in the interests on seeing it again,  up went the M2P.  Its a lot mre over grown than my last visit a few years ago sadly.

It was built in 1887 so its certainly been disused for a while.

Awesome captures DA.    Appears the site has become quite heavily overgrown.  Must have been an engineering marvel in design.

A lot of its underground.   I visit visited there in a lunch break and couldn’t really get dirty in office clothes and this was me finally going back.   Need to do it alone next time.

Im not entirely sure who owns it,  for many years it was a bit of secret and the location was only shared on sites like 28dayslater.   But more recently someone added a POI to google maps for it.

I suspect its on the land owned by the farmer and probably protected so just fenced it off and ignores it.   The only entry point was through a kids playground where the fence was broken,   but thats not been repaired.   

Later I will post a sphere so you can see the area better.

We have enough of the exploding kind on the beaches near here,    something washes up weekly that they blow up on the beach at low tide.  Mostly ww2 but also stuff from the ministry of defence test site further up the coast.

I think quote a lot of the explorers have been to this one.   It used to be really easy to access before the council fixed the fence.
