Hi all....

I am new to droning and I often have issues reading the screen of my phone on the controller.

How do you deal with that?
Do you use some kind of sunscreen around it or so?

Dark glasses should help. Seriously, look for a sun hood. You also have DJI on offer.

In regard to your question about the sun affecting visibility of your phone screen, I can highly recommend the DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller Monitor hood. I have been using this for the past 6 months and I now never leave home to fly my Mini 2 without it, unless it is an overcast day, Sure, you can find cheaper versions on ebay etc, but they are not anywhere near the quality of the DJI sun hood. Trust me, just like their drones, it is worth paying that little extra to enjoy the quality DJI provides.

Pick the official DJI sunhood for the controller, it's the best around and works like charm.

I bought the DJI DJI RC-N1 to use with my mobile device to help during bright daylight days.  It is better made than some of the knock offs you can find online.

I have since switched to using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 to have a larger display.  I purchased a sun hood for it also.  

Better than any hood is to fly from the shade of a nice shady tree, a convenient wall, etc.

And if natural shade is not available, wear your own ;-)
$20 on eBay.

Can you still operate the phone buttons with the DJI hood on?
Does it work for all mobiles, more importantly Note 20 Ultra, its not the smallest on the market ;)

I actually tried that yesterday afternoon on you advise. As simple as it sounds it worked just as well. Thanx!

I think I also had an issue with my phone screen settings. I noticed that true tone was switched on. Now it is off with max clarity and it already looks better too. Going to try an oled phone too, soon.

Going to purchase the hood anyway, since there may not always be spots with shade and a combination of measures may be useful anyway. Yesterday morning I could not see the screeninfo and that was a bit uncomfortable trying to land.

PS last flight I finally got the nerve to send the mini 2 away a bit further. Reached an altitude of more than 50 meters.

Usually a sunhood will do the trick,  you can make one yourself to test it out.

Heres a patern you can use to make one.

Easy enough to cut and glue cardboard pieces together custom made for your equipment. Paying €25 for that is pure ridiculous!

ha ha, didn't crash that much at the end, lucky he just missed his partner.

Anyway, looks quite good but, if ya need to change ANYTHING app wise, you're screwed unless ya want to waste valuable flight time,
taking it off, unzipping, etc. it would be more battery than ya think due to the hovering too.

$130 plus import tax(not sure on that due to price) + UK VAT @20% + PO handling charge, so probably around the same £130gbp

Myself, I would much prefer to spend that kind of money on a used 64bit tablet with hdmi out, I know its only 720, well, the Shield K1 was.
but at least ya have full access to the app

The hood is going to be a birthday present. They always complain that I have no wishes, so now I do ;)

And to have the original product has served me well in the past with other appliances.

If you have access to a 3D printer there are allot of files available some even phone specific. People have gotten very creative with ideas.

Another way is to move to the UK.  I cannot remember what sunshine looks like!
