I have three batteries. One 4500 and two 5700's. Looking them over this evening and I noticed that all three have small very hard bulges on the bottoms. They all have smooth sides. I really think that they are OK. But never having noticed this before I want to check with others if they notice this on their batteries.

Bulge in batteries is not good, you should contact DJI and advise them. I personally would not use them. I had the same happen in a MacBook and the battery was bad

Please check the bottom of your batteries and post here whether it is flat or slightly bulged.

My understanding of a puffed battery is that it is a soft bulge not hard. I could certainly be misinformed.

I have a brand new Inspire 1 too and my TB47 has a slight bulge on the bottom too.  Youtube a bulged Lipo and you will see that you do not have a bulged battery.  I believe this is normal.

I did as you suggested and I was going to post some of the videos here that I found, but I don't think you guys want to watch videos about lipo suction.

There were actually a couple about puffed batteries. And as you said, nothing to worry about.

I have two TB47 and one TB48 batteries (bought at different times) and they all have the small bulge you are talking about.

All of them have had this small bulge from the beginning so it seems to be a characteristic of these batteries.  However, before and after charging, I always check my batteries for bulges and swelling in the sides, and that the bulge in the bottom hasn't significantly changed in size.

The bottom is not where I would expect the bulging to first appear if there was a something wrong with my batteries so I am not worried about this at all!

All nine of my batteries have had bulges in the bottoms of them since I got them, so I assume it's completely normal, you're good. No need to waste an hour of your life on hold waiting for a DJI rep...
