I‘m a bit confused about current drone rules in the UK: I gathered that at the beginning of the year one could fly over houses and people with a sub 250g drone. Did that change or did I get that wrong or is that still the rule?

Sub 250g drones without an EASA classification can overfly people and property (but not crowds) without any issues.    With classification that changes to <250g MTOM for overfly property.

Yes you should be fine.  

MTOM = Maximum Take Off Mass.

thanks Chris,  Pin Mill is certainly worth a visit,  only about 15 minutes from Languard point too.   Im told the pub there does excellent food.
