Was wondering if anyone uses a portable batery charger out in the field to keep their mavic 2 pro batteries charged? I can use my car but the vehicle requires me to keep the engine running in order to do so. Am thinking about investing in a ortable charging brick of some sort.

Many thanks,
Houston

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. Hope that you could get the best recommendation from our fellow DJI Pilot here in Forum. Please note that we recommend using a power source with 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz. Thank you for your valued support.

I have no experience with that. But I would try a charger like this and put red and black battery clips on it in place of the cigar lighter plug if your car has no power at the cigar lighter socket when stopped.
Naturally you would want to keep an eye on the car battery voltage level from time to time to keep it from going too low to start the car. Alternatively bring another car battery or 12v brick instead.

I would probably buy a 12v lawn tractor battery for about $40 or less unless you really need 120vac. A 20 Amp-hour battery will give you 24 Watts for 10 hours.

Again, I need something more portable. That idea requires me to carry around car battery. Then there is the matter of having to charge it with some other apparatus. I think I am going with the Jackory Explorer 300. That way I can always charge my Inspire 2 batteries as well. Just need to figure out how to calculate what it can an can not charge and for how long.

I have the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 300. It works well but only has enough capacity for about 3 or 4 charges of the Mavic 2 pro battery.

Not sure if this will suit your needs, but it seems reasonably portable and it's self contained.

For this kind of money this charges goes, it is probably better just to buy 3 or 4 batteries extra (even than bulk and weight is probably less than charger alone).
As for charging controller: if you have some powertool batteries, get some usb adapter for it, so you can charge controller, phone tablets etc like that. I use this and it works great- Not just fro drones, whenever you need additional juice on the go, just throw one or two powetool bateries in the bag/car and you're good to go.

This is exactly what I ended up doing. Works great. Since it has the pass through charging, I also leave the station plugged into the cars cigarette lighter so when the engine is running, it will charge the unit. Depending on the amount of driving I do at a location, this gets me a little more juice out of the station.

I have 6mm^2 figure 8 cable running from the battery into the cabin of my 4WD, feeding a Victron 375VA 12VDC >230VAC inverter on the front floor. Plugged into that is a 4 outlet power board (+2 USB) on the back seat floor with 3 M2P battery chargers so that I can have 3 batteries charging simulataneously. With this arrangement I can fly all day with no waiting for batteries to charge.
No need to keep the engine running to support charging 3 M2P  batteries, the battery could support that for many hours if required  when not driving around properties on a job. Charging say 10 batteries  from 80 % discharged =  say 500Wh allowing for charging losses. The 120AH battery = 1440Wh.

I have the jackery 300. I find you can recharge 4-5 mavic 2 batteries with if you use the 12v outlet. It's not as efficient when charging through 110vac.

I have 5 batteries. So as I start using batteries, I can be charging them while flying on others.  This basically doubles my flight time to 10 batteries. That's been plenty for all the jobs I have had. I also keep 30,000mah usb battery that can keep my controller going all day.
