On the lower slopes of the High Peak, between Hayfield and New Mills, is Birch Vale. And above the village, a quarry.

Having visited the Netherlands a few times, I know what you mean.  It's a little better here, but our hills in this "High Peak" county only rise to about 210 metres. And even the highest mountain in the entire realm (Ben Nevis, in Scotland) stands at only 1345 metres.
