If by modular they mean a strap on battery, and some other small things, then i am NOT impressed,  this LEAK i sincerely hope is BS.

Hello !!

I am very happy that DJI has decided to release an action camera with this form factor !!

It will be perfect to fit on my freestyle FPV builds !!

I was about to get the Osmo Action .... but I think I'll be waiting for this action cam.

For me personally, if no remote control capability, I won't be buying.  Would have already bought the current Osmo Action but no remote capability.

if all those leaks were true, DJI would have to know ... right? if it were to be released by the end of the year...

I didnt realise that the Osmo didnt have remote app.    hmmm,    thats a bit of a flaw.

The DJI Action 2  will be officially announced on October 27th. This is also known as the  release date and is one week after we get to see the new DJI Mavic 3 drone.

Its going to be a busy month.

By all means OA2 seem to have a better processor despite its shrunk size. I am curious about what it actually can do.

The leaks seem to be way to synthetic and deliberate without any asterisks , which generally is not the case. Most of these products cannot walk and chew gum at the same time I would love to see in which modes OA2 can correct distortion, use HEVC encoding, utilize stabilization etc. etc.

Apparently there's a remote control selfie stick accessory.

I appreciate that those who use "selfie sticks" would have an option, however I want to use this as a dash cam that my wife (if I'm driving) can just start / stop recording when we go thru "scenic" areas and to be able to mount on my tripod and just a remote to start / stop when at overlooks and so forth.  Don't want to have to deal with phone apps and all that, just push a button on the remote to control the camera.

Old and cranky am I, yes.

in that vid its three pieces can DJI  themselves confirm this NO!

While it might well be a better option  than a real dash cam for saving scenic drives then it will also have a major drawback which granted it also fix.
And that is the wide angle FOV, CUZ ideally you do not want to have your A pillars or dash in your drive video ( with a accident recorder like a dashcam thats okay ) but you can just crop that out in post so it is a null problem after you added the extra work in post.

Take a look at the youtube channel American roads, IMO that guy make nice drive videos,,,,, and informative, thats how i feel a drive video should be.

There is of course the heating issue related to longer recording sessions, but i have tried my OA in the windscreen, and it work fine for 45 min long drives

Im hoping that they added remote streaming,   thats a big deal breaker for me.

I don't remember where I saw it, but it seems like at least the first packages will be bundles; one with the front facing screen and the other with the extended battery. Everything else points to the camera being a self sufficient unit, so at least at one point (if not at launch) they should start selling a "camera only" package...

A2 will have slightly larger sensor with same MP, so a bit better in low light I think
