Hello droners,

Please enjoy this drone clip of the biggest Hole in Europe, the Hambach opencast mine sprawls across 85 square kilometres in Germany's Lower Rhine basin. Giant excavators mine lignite – aka brown coal. The tiny western German ghost town of Manheim  is making room for the hungry excavators.The cemetery has been relocated, the houses abandoned, the shop windows boarded up and the main street is deserted.

I take it that this one of those mines that the Landsat satellites showed on TV recently. Showing the changes over the last 50 years.
Very nicely filmed though!

Yes the intension is to make indeed a lake out of it , but i think it will be in approx 15-20 years from now
