Going to Cabo at the end of the year (2021).  I've checked UAV coach and it not very clear.  It sounds like it's easy to get the Mini 2 in just fine, but what about the Air 2?  It looks like you have to register the drone, but have to be a citizen in order to do that.  Has anyone had any issues or what did you do?

Good luck with that. I can't help at all. But if you can do it I'm sure you'll bring back some great scenes

Can You Fly Drones in Mexico?

Unfortunately, Mexican law does not permit tourists to bring their drones into the country or operate them on Mexican soil. At the time of writing, only Mexican citizens can fly drones. This applies to drones of all sizes.

Attempting to break this rule is not advised. Trying to fly a drone in Mexico as a foreigner could result in serious legal consequences and penalties.
So, if you’re looking to fly a drone somewhere new on your next vacation, you may want to look to a different country.

I made a trip to Tulum back in summer 2018 and flying a drone was no problem for non-citizens.

However, since the new drone laws in Mexico have come into effect in 2020 only a Mexican national can apply for a drone license and legally fly in Mexico.  Persons caught flying illegally will have their drones confiscated and face prison time.

Thats not a surprise,   if you are flying in the countryside I doubt you'd have any issues.   Its the idiots that make a scene that are the issue.

It's a shame that they changed the drone laws.  However, just wanted to make sure you knew what you were up against in advance.

That's what it looks like.  I sure wouldn't fly over a ruin or anything.

I flew a few spots in Singapore by stealth,  then later I noticed people were taking off in all manor of crazy places and still no one cared.  But I like to be stealthily and fly in and get the shot and get out quick.

Mexico is on our red list so we would have to quarantine for 2 weeks on return.
