Hi guys,

I have a Mini 1 - and took it on a hike this weekend into a canyon at the base of a waterfall. Was hoping to get a nice flythrough and footage going up the waterfall, but I got the error that no gps signal was found and that my altitude would be locked at 30m (it actually wouldnt go highter than my eye height).

Is there any way around this?

Thanks.

Hi,

Don`t think so. Drone will is limited to 5 or 30 meters. (see the manual)

Plus be carefull...if you fly down into a canyon (with GPS) and on the way down you loose "GPS" than the 30 or 5 meter UP limit is also activated.
If that happens lower than 30 / 5 meters from the takeoff point, no way to get your drone back to your takeoff point.

cheers

Thanks for the reply.

I was IN the canyon (at the bottom) which is why I couldn't get a GPS signal.

I read that you were in the canyon, just a tip if you try to fly into that canyon the next time....

Why wouldn't it switch to the ATTI mode automatically? Seems this would be the situation that would trigger it.

Loosing "GPS" while flying
  > if enough light and good visual reference (thus within sensor range)  than in OPTI otherwise into ATTI

and yes, all automatically

Your drone doesn't "switch to Atti Mode.
Normal Mode or P-GPS = Atti Mode plus GPS.
Lose GPS, and the drone is in Atti Mode ...
... unless it's within the limited range of the downward looking sensors, which will allow it to use Opti Mode.
