I got used to seeing my drones (M2P, MA2, A2s) align with the launch direction before starting descent while RTH landing. They always came down pointing in the same direction as at launch. But lately I see that is different.... especially after using active tracking. Now they come down facing the same direction as the approach path with no correction. I have no real problem with that but just wanted to point it out for other users here. Anyone else notice that?

hi Gary,

is that the Fly app or the Go4 app you are talking about?
The M2P is Go4, that I know. But the MA2 and MA2s don't they use the Fly app instead?
(I don't have one of those, flying only M2P and Mini2)

Just bought a used M2P so only have a few flights in with it.  However, when I tried RTH it did not land facing the same direction that it was pointing during takeoff.

Not sure it's relevant but I'm flying a Mini 2 and mine has never done any yaw movement before descent when using RTH.

The Mini 2 has not got precision landing unfortunately. I have n't flown my M2P lately and had no updates since I last flew it, I'm sure it always aligned itself to the same as it took off.

Using the Go 4 app V 4.3.42 on my Android Samsung 10 V10 and my drone M2P always turn to the heading it had at start, before landing above the starting point. Using P-mode. Have not tried active tracking yet.

No. I always cancel active tracking before initiating RTH, but after that, the drone does not rotate before descent. If I don't use tracking any time during the flight, it rotates.

Had 2 flights, MA2 and MINI2. (Android 1.4.12 [1420])

MA2 >
  • Normal flight, RTH initiated > On top turning to start heading.
  • Active track flight.
  • Normal flight, RTH initiated > On top turning to start heading.

MINI2>
  • Normal flight, RTH initiated > On top NO turning to start heading
  • Normal flight, RTH initiated at different heading to home > On top NO turning to start heading

I just tested my MA2 and A2s today and they are back to normal rotation. I was forced to update controller firmware before each flight however.
