Firstly, WHY did you update the firmware, did you have a problem?

Have you updated everything, drone, remote controller and the battery?

I have just bought the p3p yesterday as a non - working  unit.
Updated the firmware to make sure it wasn't that and it doesnt appear to be that.
No damage is visible. Everything seems to be fine other than this error.
The controller says firmware is up to date.

OK msanders03. First, have you downloaded the manual.

Turn everything on, what are the indicator lights doing on the drone and remote.

Msanders03.  I tried firmware 1.11.30 and that didnt work.  Took the p3p apart and found a new motor had been fitted with badly soldered joints.  I remade the joints and it is all now working fine.

Yes I have, I also have a P3 Advanced.

The aircraft status light is a slow green flash
the remote has a solid green light

So everything is good, linked and ready to go.

Carry out a full calibration of the sticks/camera control. If the sticks are out of calibration they may not be going right into the corners!!

yes done all calibrations.

opened drone body to find someone "replaced" a motor, but just wrapped duck tape around the wires. not sure is i should try and sodder the wires or just scavange the parts to fix my other drone.

Soldering is not rocket science, have a go, but make sure you get the wires in the right place or the motor could run the wrong way!

Did he use the right motor.....

If the wires from the motor to the esc have been cut in the middle you will find that they are enamelled wires which are difficult to remove the enamel in order to solder them properly.  This was exactly the same problem that i had.  Its very much worth a bit of time cleaning the enamel off and soldering the wires correctly providing the motor is good and is the correct one.  Good luck.

Where are the wires cut, in the middle between the motor and esc? If so the comment by jeffridj are very valid. You need to scrape the wires with a knife until you have shiny copper. Then wrap them together and use fluxed solder.
