An early-morning wait for the ferry gave the opportunity for a flight along the deserted sands.

Thanks David. Yes, it was a lovely morning. Further along is a bird sanctuary, but I didn't venture that far. Didn't want to tarry and miss the ferry

Best not fly in bird sanctuaries,  they dont tend to like that too much.

Exactly. And being seabirds, they're a good bit bigger than the drone

I found the Canadian geese run a mile when they just hear the drone.

I'm always wary of any birds - they have more right to the sky than us, after all

Indeed they do.  Saw something special yesterday.  On the way home the normal road I use was closed so had to detour near a farm.  As I’m heading past the farm a bird of prey crossing in front of the car with a mouse in its claws.  It was quite the surprise.

That must have been something to see. Was it near dusk?

Probably more at home there than on land.

Possibly a Kestrel then, or a Buzzard?

Most likely a buzzard.  We get those in the garden occasionally and it was the right colour & size. But it was so quick I wouldn’t want to go definitive on that.

I’ve not seen any for a while but I do love finding owl pellets, and having a peak inside.   I’ve liked doing that since I was 7 and a wildlife park introduced me to them.

We had a wide range of wildlife in the garden, back in France. One Spring, we were "adopted" for a short while by a young Kestrel, which appeared on the landing windowledge one morning.   I'll dig out the photos from the archive. Lovely colouring.

Lovely.  I Can’t compete with that but our bird box has bluetits every year.  And it’s already getting some attention.  Apparently they also get used for shelter in bad weather.

Bluetits were regular visitors - nesting in boxes and, one year, in a hole in the wall of the house.

Three successive mornings he was on the windowsill, with us less than 2ft away.  The morning sun reflecting off the window meant he couldn't see us.
