No, in fpv you have the signal transmitted from one (mostly pretty bad 720p or so) camera and another one you record the good video with. That is a GoPro most of the time.
One exception is the DJI fpv drone that uses one camera for both (good for the signal, not good for the video).

Family fun!  Did you really fly that between your wifes legs or drone effect move with camera?!  She must trust you!

Here you see the "footage" camera, at the end of the pencil is the "flight" camera.
The goggles record onto a micro sd card, regardless of which drone you fly. The DJI one records from the same camera to an internal micro sd card. You can select, if you want one, the other or both.

I did, though it was my daughter and it was her idea.
On the picture one or a few posts up you can see the drone. It's not dangerous at all because it weighs 250 g and has prop guards and all.

I didn't think you would harm your family.  The baby props on that thing doesn't hurt anyway!
