The FAA has not got their collective sheeeit together, and they keep changing the rules every other month.
Once they get their sheeeeit together and make mandatory provisions, then I'll comply. (this won't happen quick)
In the 60s when CB (citizen band) radios were all the rage, the federal govt FCC, wanted everyone to have a license in order to broadcast on them.
Well, when they found out they could not locate people in violation, they realized their voluntary registration was a waste of everyones time and they let people have them without license.
On that case (which I would argue in court as defense), I'm not going to jump through hoops, when it's not being enforced, and is pointless to the degree it is not effective to make people register.
Holds true today, with the FAA still drawing new rules everyday, and not enforcing a single one.
So, you have to ask yourself, am I overly excited to jump through government hoops to make my toy hobby seem more adult, and validated?
I have not registered mine and don't plan to, yet and still I know the laws, and know how to fly without interfering with others and following said laws.
No registration does not mean you can fly with impunity (without rule) ... simply means you're smarter than the average bear. Know the rules, don't break them, if everyone was going rogue and breaking basic rules, this stuff would be signed into law already ......................................... but it is not. |
