We are now in late Autumn, but the fields around the village of HAYFIELD have retained their verdant look.
Although the heather on the moorlands has begun to fade from magnificent purple to dull brown.

Population is around 2700, so there could have been a few - it was around 08h00.

This is about as much snow as we got last December. A shot from further away, but the same hills.

Super image, nice contrast between the green and the slate(?) brickwork of the town.

Thanks Chris. The older houses are mainly sandstone, with slate roofing.

Thanks RDB.  Yes, heavy snowfall in these parts is rare. Often, in the towns, it melts away by the following day. On the hills it may last a week or so - as in this case.

I had my share of snow over many years of Naval service in different locations both in the US and worldwide.  So when retirement time came up I decided to live somewhere that had a lot of sunshine and no snow.  Hence, why I ended up in Florida.  

I like seeing the snow just no longer want to shovel it.
