Tests done with different resolutions and speed settings to show the cropping that occurs at different settings. The results are actually a bit surprising.

Hi Kerry, good work on the testing.

I think I understand why you are seeing the tighter crop on the lower res. Scanning through the specs for the M3, the 1080P resolution set is the only one that (at some point) will support 200fps. My guess is that the crop you're seeing in 120fps is the same as that required for 200fps readout off the sensor. That way, there won't be a crop change between 120 and 200 fps.

Now this is pure engineer's conjecture, so take it with sufficient salt for your tastes ;)

Probably a pretty good guess, although I would prefer to have as much non-crop whenever possible.

Thanks for sharing.

A reason that you have more crop factor at higher frame rates has a lot to do with the amount of image processing power available on the Mavic 3.

Still not a big issue, just nice to know about it.

Of course, most cameras do this. What was strange is that in Slow Motion, the lower the resolution, the tighter the crop. You would think this would be the other way around.

You're just lokking at a horizontal Crop when switching from Cinema 4K (DCI 4K) to 4K, and that's because of the different aspect ratios: DCI 4K is 17:9, 4K ist 16:9.
Look at the C4K at your video, you have black bars above and below, because your export is 16:9. Now take a look at the 4K example. The borders are cropped now, but there is no vertical Crop, and the clip fills the whole frame with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Alkernativly you can set up your Timeline for 17:9 Export, but then a 4K Clip will be cropped at the top and the bottom, then without horizontal crop.
So you have to opt for the lesser evil when dealing with different aspect ratios.

I specifically said that in the video, that 5k and C4k have a different aspect ratio. Good clarification on setting up a project or export though.

Not exactly.
5.1K and DCI 4K (C4K) have the same aspect ratio of 17:9
And 4K and FHD have an aspect ration of 16:9

We are saying the same thing, 5.1 and C4K have a different aspect ratio than the rest of the resolutions.

Ah ok, I didn't get that, sorry.

But the explanation for the "crop" at 2:55 in your video is, that there is no further crop, it's just a change of aspect ratio, and the borders have to go.

I probably could have explained that better.
