I performed yesterday a range test on my Mavic 3 in sport mode with a battery that only has 1 cycle.
multiples spotters help me with this test. Thanks to my wife, daughter and friends.

The weather was perfect, 70 degrees, 1-3 Mph wind, The OccuSync3+ is incredible.
The video can be seen up to 5.1K

As you can see the battery is the limit. I may have archive another 1,000 FT but I don't want to push to much the first time without know the drone. I returned with 17% of battery left.

I need to test in normal mode but can be risky the return.

Good test, but brave move launching it on that spit of land so it has to RTH perfectly when low on battery. Rather you than me Glad to see it made it no worries

That is exactly whey I went in Sport going and normal coming.
I came back almost at 50% of the battery. The last 10% is useless because the drone will want to land. I had only 40% usable while coming back. To assure i have sufficient battery i switched to normal mode.

By going in normal probably i will be able to go 5,000 fader but any weather change can leave me short coming back and i don't want to risk a new over $3000 drone.

How much battery do you think is used for recording at 5k footage? 10-20%?

I am not sure about that. I know people that are freaks with range tests don't even use SD cards on the drone. They disable all avoidance and they only record on screen to save all the battery possible and get the most. In my case i want to test the capacity in real use with video recording like everybody do, even when we are not going to fly a 1/10 of this distance.

Also you mentioned that the last 10% of the battery is useless because it will force land. So is it safe to depend on that? or the reported flight time left? I'm not familiar with the FLY APP and I'm trying to find the threshold for when the drone will be totally uncontrollabe due to self-landing, in other words in case you want to push the battery to its limit, where do I have to keep an eye before the unavoidable emergency landing happens.

As I mention the last 10% of the battery is useless because the drone will start landing automatically, you still can control direction but not the landing.

My understanding is the Standard Remote is the same as the Mini2 / Air2S and it doesn't support OcuSync 3.0. Unless OcuSync 3.0 is nothing more than OcuSync 2.0 with a more powerful signal coming from the drone. That doesn't explain why the first gen Smart Controller doesn't work with it while the old Standard Controller does.

The DJI Mavic Air2S is OccuSync3 not 2.

Some people says the remote has extra antennas internally.... I dont buy that personally.
The extra watts its possible.

What do not make sense is why if the Air2S is OccuSync 3 DJI is shipping their flagship drone with an inferior remote control than the Air2S most likely the DJI Mini 2 Remote control that is OccuSync2.

Unless they are lying on the Remote Control saying that is OccuSync2 when in reality is OccuSync3 and this is a marketing strategy to make the people buying the RC Pro.  (i guess that what is)

When you chat with DJI Support Jenna told me the standard remote is OccuSync3 what explain the good range is having the Mavic 3 with the  standard remote.
